How to Publish an App on the App Store and Google Play
The steps, accounts, assets, and review requirements for launching a mobile app, and how to avoid common rejection reasons.

Building an app is only part of the journey; it then has to pass through Apple's App Store and Google Play. Each has its own requirements and review processes. Knowing them in advance avoids launch delays.
Developer accounts
You need a developer account with Apple and with Google, ideally registered in your company's name so you own the listing. Apple's process can require company verification, which takes time, so start early.
What you need for a listing
- App name, description, and keywords
- Screenshots for different device sizes
- An app icon
- A privacy policy URL
- Support contact details
- Age rating information
- Details of data your app collects and how it is used
Review processes
Both stores review apps before publishing. Reviews check for crashes, broken features, misleading content, privacy issues, and policy compliance. Updates are also reviewed.
Common reasons for rejection
- Crashes or broken features during review
- Missing or unclear privacy information
- Requesting permissions without explaining why
- Login required with no test account provided to reviewers
- In-app purchases that do not follow store rules
- Incomplete or placeholder content
Plan for launch
- Test with real users through beta testing programmes first.
- Provide reviewers with test accounts and clear notes.
- Allow time for at least one round of review feedback.
- Prepare marketing and support for launch day.
After launch
Monitor crash reports and reviews, respond to feedback, and keep the app updated for new operating system versions.
Treat app store review as part of your timeline, not an afterthought.
MOKRIN handles app store submission and review for the apps we build, with accounts registered in the client's name.
